Pirates of Silicon Valley

         In 1971 in Berkeley, a commotion happened in the campus of University of California. Steve Jobs was with Steve Wozniak at that time. On the other hand, William Henry "Bill" Gates was with  Steve Ballmer and Paul Allen.With is intelligence and perseverance, Bill Gates  made a home computer with a keyboard for typing. 

     In 1976, they sold 50 computers. Then in 1977, Microsoft had its first office in Albuquerque. On the same year, a computer fair was held in San Francisco, he met Steve Jobs (co-founder of Apple computers). The two are in rivalry in terms of computer sales and programs. Apple had been successful and they've had a famous name that time. The first computer was named "The Lisa". The name "Lisa" was named after Steve Job's daughter. The Lisa was then followed in 1984 by Macintosh which was inspired by Xerox Alto.

     In 1985, during a birthday toast to Steve Jobs, the chief executive officer of Apple, John Sculley later fired Steve Jobs after 3 months. When Apple had a crisis, Microsoft bought $150 million shares of stock in Apple. So Bill Gates has a share of stock in Apple Inc.However, Steve Jobs returned to Apple in 1997 and worked again.

Pirates of the Silicon Valley: The Reaction

    I find it hard to understand why do we need to watch the movie entitled "Pirates of Silicon Valley". We don't have any clue what's in that movie and why do we have to see it. At first, I feel sleepy and I didn't get interested in watching it until I saw how the computer was improved from that 'blue box' thing.As the story goes by, I've seen on how Microsoft find a way to be on top in time of Apple's success. Now, Bill Gates the owner and founder of Microsoft owns apple shares.

       I find the movie interesting because it informed us on how computer was discovered and how it was improved. From simple to its new and fascinating features and contribution to the society, its nice to know on how it was developed from and improved time to time. It make me happy and grateful for the discovery from science and technology because without it, we won't get as 'techie' as we are now.

Network: Connecting people, Connecting lives

    In the world of computers, one of its uses is for communication. In the old days, computers are made for recording and storing of data but later used for data sharing and communication using multiple numbers of computers connected with each other thru cable or Wi-fi. Network has been a great help because it makes one computer user send request or message to the server and vice versa. However, in a network system, one can share the same information within its parameter.

In a network, one computer has the control over the the others. If anyone is caught doing malicious things, the server has an authority to disconnect the computer. But there is a risk also. The system might be hacked and confidential information may lose its privacy. The ones who has more knowledge about computer network system are making ways to protect the in formations and programs.

World made smaller, Internet

     In the world of technology, it make the world revolve with modernization. All the aspects in the society had adopted technology in dealing with day to day activities including communication. Communication is made possible when a person transmits his message,idea or information perceived by the listener and later was given a reaction (may be a criticism, additional information or opinion). But we don't just use verbal communication but we also use non-verbal communication through writing, texting and also body language.

           With the use of internet connection, people from distant places can now communicate with each other. In the late 1900's, internet was discovered but few of the people uses it. People communicate and meet through chat rooms and emails are used. And there came the pagers, analog phones and now, the smartphones. However, the internet world has also improved. There are many social networking sites which made the world smaller. Thru emails, chatting, video emails and video conferencing, we can now communicate and make friends with other people in different places.

Nursing role modernized

       With the new invention of gadgets, computers and machines, the world was fascinated by its features and uses in the different aspects of our lives. The new inventions are being used in the industry e.g., factories. some are for entertainment and communication. In the medical field, informatics has been a big help not just on the nurse's part but also in the integration of data and keeping of records and its confidentiality.

        Machines are helpful in a way that it makes us finish our work in less effort and less time. For nurses, it is highly recommended if one is computer literate because he will not just be dealing with his patient but with the information being collected as well.

Advantage and Disadvantage of Nursing Informatics

        Nursing informatics integrates nursing science, computer science and information science to collect, manage and communicate data, information and knowledge in the nursing practice. It facilitates data collection, information and knowledge to support patients and also in decision-making. However, modernizing or improving the healthcare system has a big difference from what things we are used to in the later days. There are many advantage that we can get from Nursing informatics but there are disadvantage as well.

   First, it is an advantage because the data is shared. So there is no worry for those documents to be lost or destroyed. Second, the control is centralized. It also has improved the integrity of the data because it is secured. And it has a conceptual design. On the part of the nurse, it is a big help because it makes the nurse to acquire more knowledge in terms of computer literacy.There is also a difficulty however because the conceptual design is complex. There is a need for multiple external databases because the data being collected is increasing. You also need to hire a database-related employee to manage the information system.

      

 

Nursing Informatics Made Easy

     As time goes by, people are discovering more of the use of technology for the improvement of life. From the discovery of simple machines to the latest trends of gadgets in the 21st millennium,its been quite a long time  for the evolution to take its place. By the time that technology was discovered and machine was invented, modernization take its place on the lives of the society. However, the lives of the people has greatly influenced on how technology play its role in the different aspects of one's life.

    Technology has greatly influenced the lifestyle of a person and even on how he/she deals with the things that is happening around her. However, it's not just the lifestyle of a person was influenced but also when it comes to health. Health has been one of the primary concern in the society and the government and healthcare providers are making its way to improve the clinical setting in terms of modernizing the facilities being used. Many hospitals adopt the use of computers in order to lessen time consumption and to have more time providing healthcare. This has been an effective way for the healthcare providers in their field of profession.
